About Me

Hey there and welcome to TreelineWife. My name is Amy Livesay and I am lucky enough to be married to my husband, Mark who is the creator of Treeline Pursuits and Treeline Academy, his new E-Scouting course. What does this mean? It means he is an avid hunter and if you are married to an avid hunter, you know you either have to join them or you will never see them! Over time, I have adapted to his quirks/all in/extreme nature and am super happy to be a part of this adventure. I wouldn’t call myself a hunter, but I do go hunting with him and our son Eli (10 years old as of 2020). Hopefully our daughter Emme (7 as of 2020) will join us this year or next and maybe our oldest, Lauren (25) who lives in Missouri.

Family Life

4 years ago, we moved our family across the country from Missouri to Missoula Montana. Why? For a job? No, we packed up because Mark was working too much and we really needed to get away from his job. He was really unsettled, and I don’t think he even realize it. I had been trying to get him to scale our business back or quit altogether for years, but nothing worked, until I said “Let’s move somewhere west where you can hunt.”

He picked Missoula because of the animals he could hunt here and the access to public land. We visited in April and moved the following March.

Each of our lives is a gift from God to be used for good especially the good of our families but also the community at large. Sometimes it is easier to help those outside our families than those in them. It can be more than frustrating. You can feel like you are running on a hamster wheel with the same problem rearing it’s ugly head over and over and over and over and OVER. But God loves families and sometimes you need to take some drastic measures. So, we did. We moved across the country and no, we did not have jobs here.

With that said, I truly love Montana as much as Mark does and I am thankful for the move.

What will you find at TreelineWife? Beside many hunters walk their sweet families. This is about how we walk together as well, but beware, this is not about our “perfect” family life. I don’t plan to pretend it is all rainbows and roses. This world needs hope especially right now. I think we all need to realize that marriage and family and life in general is super hard. So be ready for the mistakes both now and some sharing from the past.

Psalm 107:2 says “Let the redeemed of the Lord tell their story-those he redeemed from the hand of the foe” Many days I am ashamed of how we lived and still live our story, but there is no doubt the Lord has redeemed our story, how He saved us and our children from the hand of the foe. I hope you will find hope in this story.

Faith

Obviously, I believe in the Lord Jesus. And, I don’t mean that I am a “Christian” though I am. I mean that I believe the Bible is true and that it holds the very words of God. I believe God, in his great mercy, sent Jesus to die on the cross, because we are all sinners (surely in today’s cultural climate you can see this?). He died and then rose again. In rising, he defeated death and we no longer have to live our life in fear, but in joy of Heaven to come for those who believe upon His name. All things can waste away and yet Jesus and His promise is enough.

Culture

I believe in America, and quite honestly, I am appalled at what is currently going on. I was fairly alarmed even before COVID and the riots but am more alarmed now. The very things America was founded on, religious freedom, freedom in general, democracy, and capitalism are being threatened. I believe each of these are vital, and I cannot sit silent any longer. I have buried my head in the sand for years expecting someone else to take care of our problems, and now there is no one else. The people who love America, who do not think it is inherently evil have to stand and stand boldly.

What else?

I love to run, bike, and generally be as active outside as I can be. It is good medicine. I also love to cook healthy food. Life is better and I am more effective in everything I do if I feel good and strong and if my family feels good and strong as well.

Camping. I love camping especially when we float the river and camp on the sand bar, but really most camping that is not in a crowded campground will do. I would literally live outside all year round if I could make that happen. Maybe one day I will.

Homeschool. We homeschooled before everyone was forced to “homeschool.” It is hard no matter how you get thrown into it. I will share as much insight as I can, though I will admit, I do not think I excel in this area. If my kids’ love of learning is any indication, I am failing quite miserably. Alas, I still think it is the best option for us and quite possibly for you too in light of the current cultural temperature. I will share why and hopefully some how. Maybe then some of you can share ideas to help me!

Oh, I probably should mention I am a Llama Mama. People tend to think that is pretty cool as do we. We have gotten to do some pretty awesome pack trips into the back country of Montana and especially Yellowstone with these amazing guys. And now we have some girls AND some babies!
