The Water is Boiling
Surely you have heard about frogs in boiling water. The frog gets in before the water is even warm and slowly, ever so slowly the water gets warmer and warmer and warmer, but since the frog is in the water, he either doesn’t notice how hot and DANGEROUS the water is getting until it is boiling and kills him. Perhaps you watched this on a video in science class when you are younger or perhaps you haven’t seen it at all, but it illustrates an important point that we see play out in so many ways in our lives. During our morning devotion, I asked my 10 and 7 year old a very simple question. “Do you want to be wise or a fool?” Even my children can answer that question. I will go out on a limb and say that virtually no one wants to be considered a fool. I fear, however, we are all too often falling into the trap of foolishness, myself included. Human nature produces fools. The truth and light of the Lord produces wisdom. We need to bring our foolishness into the light. What Is Happening?
These days I feel overwhelmed most of the time. Do you? We all have the normal “stressors” of life but now we add on all the COVID restrictions and precautions, which change on a daily basis. The target is forever moving leaving our lives not only changed but also uncertain and chaotic not to mention devoid of loving community. Our kids can’t go to most of their summer activities, summer travel is not a thing, parents are trying to work and take care of small kids who normally go to daycare, jobs and the dreams of many hard-working Americans are being lost because no one knows what rule they will…
